Fasting
One of the best changes that I have made in my eating is learning how to fast properly. I have read different books about fasting and find that they are all very educating and helpful. If you don’t have time to read audio books is a great option. I will link to all of the books that I have used for fasting and encourage you to read them. They are a little different in their techniques but basically the same. You will have to figure out what works best for you. I personally like Gin Stephens book Fast Feast Repeat. She does a clean fast. This means that you can have black coffee, water, and plain tea, nothing with flavor during your fasting window. Anything flavored or with calories will break your fast. I have tried fasting using butter or MCT oil during my fasting window but found that the clean fast worked better for me.
The reason I like fasting is because it is like a cleaning out of old stores of fat, glucose, bad cells etc. I feel like it is a renewing of the body. One piece of advice is to be patient with fasting. It is a process and you will learn to listen to your body. For example, if I am planning a 19 hour fast and I wake up with my stomach growling and drinking black coffee, water or plain mineral water doesn’t subside the hunger in a few hours, then I know I need to break my fast. My body is telling me that I am in the part of my cycle where I need to feed my hormones. Again, this will take time to figure out your own body.

I use a fasting app (Fastic) to help me keep up with my eating and fasting windows each day. This helps keep me accountable of my hours. I use the free version so I have to deal with ads. There are many other options in the app if you choose to pay for it.
I have also used a weight/scale app (Happy Scale) to help with my mental issues LOL! of using a scale. I used to weigh everyday first thing in the morning with no clothes on and that stupid number would determine how I would feel that day. How stupid is that? But it is true and I bet you feel like me too. That all changed when I heard Gin Stephens recommending this app. It really is pretty cool! You weigh everyday and input your weight into the app. It will give you a weekly average of your weight. Your weight will fluctuate from day to day, so seeing your weekly average is really what is important. It totally made me look at my number on the scale differently and took the pressure off of getting on the scale each day.
